Daniel - Choose The Right

Daniel & The Lion's Den

 Lesson

For our first Hero Hour we discussed Daniel in the lion's den. I summarized the story of Daniel from Daniel chapter 6 in the Old Testament. We talked about how Daniel prayed to Heavenly Father even though he knew it was against the law. In his heart he knew it was the right thing to do. Heavenly Father blessed him for choosing the right and protected him while he was in the lion's den.

We talked about how sometimes choosing the right is hard but Heavenly Father always blesses us when we do it.

Activity/Craft

I prepared paper plates with lion's faces on them, strips of construction paper, and glue sticks beforehand. The kids enjoyed making their own lion masks.

Jimmy doesn't work on Fridays so he helped out with Hero Hour. He pretended to be a lion while the kids were in the lion's den.

Treat

We all enjoyed Cocoa Rice Krispies Treats for our treat and they were a big hit. The Little Macs aren't usually so proper to use utensils when they eat but they all requested them to eat their Rice Krispies Treats.

Hero Hour is meant to be a simple idea that you and your children can easily do and all enjoy together. It invites the Spirit into your home and teaches your family important gospel principles. If you have older children you can delve deeper into the gospel principles in the lesson you prepare. For younger children like mine, keeping it simple will keep their attention better.

Love, Sue

  2. Thanks Carly! They really liked it Sarcie. They liked the treat best of all but they enjoyed the lesson and craft too. I asked them if they knew who the person in the picture was and I was so surprised that Liam was the one who knew.
